You're right <b>Lara</b>, I'm sure the person that misses Eight Belles the most is her trainer. I'm no expert, but I do know a bit about horse racing and know first-hand about the bonds that these trainers and jockeys form with their horses. It's just as close as a family bond in many cases. Worse, they've been caught purchasing huge walk-in freezers to store the dead bodies of all the animals they euthanize themselves. Hypocrites. There are lots of sane, rational, logical animal rights folks. I like to think I'm one of them, though I've been a bad one lately. I disagree with using animals for human gain, and it's clear that horse racing is a dangerous sport for the horses. It seems they use sad and tragic incidents (sometimes truly accidents) like this one to push forward their agenda. Apparently, they don't care how many harmless people they steamroll over in the process. I'm sure no one cried more or harder over Eight Belles' death than her jockey and trainer!
