Karim, sorry, I'm not usually this sentimental. =)

And Iris, I'm sorry you missed lunch with our newly married friend Min yesterday. Was good times! See you soon, I hope, and hope the Wii injury is better now!

loved the new post...sorry I wasn't there to bear witness to the strange marriage "policeman" you encountered on Saturday.

I think I know you pretty well, especially where you stand on marriage and it's good to know that you believe in love in all in manifestations. xoxo

That's a great story in Time, Maria. Thanks for the link. And thanks for stopping by here. I often tend to spew whatever's on my end over here, and it's always nice to know someone understands (and sometimes agrees with) my thoughts.

Marriage matters. We still vault it to sacred status, consider it the most important social institution out there. And like you say, Sameer, there's beauty in the idea. Human rights aside (though the crux of the matter) - it legally denies decent folks a time-honoured love story of an aisle with someone standing at the end, with whom to walk the ends of the earth.

All this to say, your piece has the same feel to an essay from a while back that I enjoy: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,588877,00.html

And lastly, your "blue eyes" analogy is uncannily similar to the Blue Eyes/Brown Eyes experiment from the 1960s! =)
